Penny Bingo: Where 1p Bingo Tickets Still Exist Online
Penny bingo is exactly what the name promises. There's 90-ball games, usually, at 1p a ticket, with prizes to match. The difference between sites, according to the room-by-room checks on Bingotastic.com, is whether that penny price is there every hour of the day or only on one day of the week.
Penny rooms versus penny days
Some sites keep a permanent 1p room running around the clock. Mecca's Penny Lane, MrQ's Pinch a Penny and Lucky Pants Bingo's Penny Paradise are all open 24 hours, so the price at three in the morning matches the price at teatime.
Others run penny days. Betfred turns its Game On room over to 1p tickets on Thursdays. The Sun Bingo has 1p Thursdays and 2p Tuesdays, and William Hill runs a penny Tuesday of its own. A penny day pulls every bargain hunter on the site into one room at one time. The games fill up and the prize per winner gets thinner. A round-the-clock room spreads the same players across the day.
A penny a ticket isn't a penny a game
| Room | Ticket limit | Cost at the limit |
|---|---|---|
| Foxy Bingo, No Fox Given | 150 | £1.50 |
| Buzz Bingo, Buzz Pennies | 120 | £1.20 |
Buying deep in a 1p room can cost more than a single 20p ticket elsewhere, and auto-buy on its highest setting gets through money quickly.
Setting a ticket limit before the session starts keeps the price where it was meant to be.
Watch the room names
A room called "penny" isn't always 1p. Zingo Bingo's Penny Arcade starts at 2p. Rosy Bingo's Zoom Room sells at 7p, despite sharing a name with the 1p Zoom Rooms at Butlers and Glossy Bingo.
Penny, free bingo and newbie rooms
- Penny room: 1p tickets, real prizes, open to anyone with a balance.
- Free room: no ticket price, but usually needs a recent deposit to get in.
- Newbie room: free, open only to new accounts for around a week.
Bingotastic keeps its penny bingo list to UK-licensed sites and notes which rooms are permanent and which run on set days, which matters if you're planning when to play. Bingotastic.com also has a directory of free bingo sites and newbie rooms, where you can compare bonuses from regulated sites.
